The company was founded in 2015, by 28-year-old Founder (Forbes 30 Under 30, Entrepreneur 35 Under 35) and fourth-generation tea entrepreneur, Bala Sarda, with a mission to build India’s maiden tea & superfoods brand, with global distribution. With direct sourcing from estates across India and local distribution in key markets like the USA, Vahdam, is the world’s first truly vertically integrated tea brand. Vahdam sources teas from tea gardens across India, and processes and packages the products at its ~25,000 sq. ft. facility in Delhi. Their key products comprise of loose-leaf teas with more than 70 signature blends, developed in-house by experts. They have also recently launched single serve tea bags and flavoured, herbal teas to target high-consumption and growth segments.

The domestic market for premium teas is extremely cluttered, on the other hand, the global consumer premium tea market is far more established, with younger consumers willing to spend on luxury experiences, superior quality, and on new and innovative tea flavours. Keeping this in mind, Vahdam has strategically focused on positioning itself primarily in the US and European markets. In the three years since they launched, Vahdam teas have received strong market validation internationally. Vahdam Teas was recently endorsed by global icon Oprah Winfrey & has won over 20 awards globally last year, including the SOFI 2018 and 2019, Great Taste 2019 & several World Tea Championship recognitions.

We are delighted to have Sixth Sense Ventures back our vision & join us in the journey creating a proud home-grown brand for the world. With the current fundraising, we aim to further penetrate key markets, invest heavily in R&D, launch innovative products, enter new markets globally & further strengthen our management team.
